Minister Rwamirama who also MP Isingiro County North delivered this message during his visit to the Kigezi Dairy Co-Operative Society Limited, located in Kitumba Ward, Southern Division of Kabale Municipality, yesterday.
He urged local farmers to purchase vaccines only from licensed and approved drug shops, such as those recognized by the National Drug Authority. By doing so, he explained, farmers can ensure the production of high-quality milk and milk products.
Minister Rwamirama also encouraged farmers to invest in modern breeds known for their superior milk production capabilities, benefiting both local and international markets, ultimately boosting their incomes.
He emphasized that the factory had undergone rigorous supervision and received confirmation from UNBS (Uganda National Bureau of Standards). He urged people to utilize the factory’s products, emphasizing their usefulness and encouraging support for local dairy businesses.
During the same event, Benjamin Turyahikayo, Chairman of the Kigezi Dairy Co-Operative Society Limited, expressed optimism about the milk processing plant’s positive impact on Kabale and the broader Kigezi region. He highlighted the potential for increased employment opportunities and fair milk prices for local farmers.
Turyahikayo urged residents to show their support by consuming the factory’s products, though he acknowledged the need for a refrigerated truck and funds for facility fencing.
Minister Rwamirama further demonstrated his commitment to the organization by donating a cooler for processed milk refrigeration and promised ongoing government support for the project’s development.
