KABALE MUNICIPAL MAYOR, LC5 CHAIRMAN FIGHT IN BAR IN MBARARA

Residents in Kabale District were left in shock when two prominent district officials engaged in a brawl at a Mbarara bar, which was captured on video.
The incident, involving Kabale District LC.5 Chairman Nshangabasheija Nelson and Kabale Municipality Mayor Sentaro Byamugisha, became a sensational on social media.
Samson Kasaasira, the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the CCTV footage circulating on social media.
In the video, Chairman Nshangabasheija is seen assaulting Mayor Sentaro Byamugisha, who tries to defend himself with a stool but is overpowered. Nshangabasheija lands multiple punches on Sentaro’s head before he collapses to the ground.
Chairman Nshangabasheija was seen leaving with an unidentified woman.
According to Kasaasira journalists in the group called Kigezi Media Forum that the incident took place on October 2, 2023, at a bar within Igongo Country Hotel and Cultural Center in Mbarara city.
The bar was hosting district leaders from Kabale, Rubanda, Ntungamo, Rwampara, Rukungiri, and Kanungu districts for a two-day Local Governments’ Budget Consultative workshop.
Kasaasira also disclosed that the matter was reported to Biharwe police station in Mbarara city, and the case file was subsequently submitted to the Regional State Attorney. However, the two leaders later decided to settle the matter out of court, prompting them to request the police to recall the case file
