KABALE: RADIO PRESENTER, FIANCEE ARRESTED FOR FAKING KIDNAP

Police in Kabale have arrested a radio presenter and his fiancee for allegedly faking kidnap.
The suspects are Obadia Twinomuhwezi alias Omubanda wa Rukiga aged 25 a radio presenter, Runyankore-Rukiga news anchor at Peak FM in Kabale town and Susan Katushabe, 22, an employee of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Kabale branch.
Twinomuhwezi and Katushabe are both residents of Rwamucucu Sub County in Rukiga district.
According to Brian Ampeire, Kabale District Police Commander, Katushabe was kidnapped by unknown people on Friday in Kabale town at around 8:00 pm on her way from Rukiga district. She was driven in a black Toyota Saloon vehicle.
The matter was reported at Rukiga police station by Katushabe’s relatives a day after kidnappers demanded 4.5 million shillings as ransom for her release.
Ampeire says that police from both Rukiga and Kabale districts expedited tracking after Katushabe continued calling asking for money to be sent to the kidnappers.
Elly Maate, Police Spokesperson for Kigezi region says that police on Sunday were surprised to find Katushabe with Twinomuhwezi at his house in Rwakaraba B village, Northern Division, Kabale municipality, before the ransom was paid.
Maate says that Katushabe and Twinomuhwezi were found with the mobile phone that was being used to demand for ransom.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the duo have been cohabiting for a while. Maate says that the two are being held at Kabale Central Police Station
