A group of Uganda Police Forces soldiers UPF yesterday night stormed freedom radio Kabale manager’s home after airing the story of kabale district resident commissioner Darius Nandinda harassing the media practitioners.
Journalists in Kabale yesterday afternoon stormed out of a meeting with the area Resident District Commissioner Darious Nandinda accusing him of being a dictator.
The journalists had gone to the office of the RDC after an incident on Wednesday where Richard Akandwanaho a journalist attached to Voice of Kigezi had his mobile phone confiscated as he covered police operations during curfew time.
Yesterday , the journalists moved to the office of the Resident district commissioner Darious Nandinda to share with him on the several incidents where journalists have been intimidating and harassed by him as they execute their duties but he instead ordered them to hand over their gadgets before they could talk.
The move angered the journalists who instead stormed out of the meeting and decided to hit back at the RDC.
However, Bob Rumanzi the station manager Freedom radio Kabale who also hosts a programme dubbed Uganda today which runs from 7pm -9pm aired the story about all scandals which allegedly angered the district RDC.
Rumanzi told our reporter today morning that when he reached at his home in central cell Kabale municipality around 2km from his work place, he found his area surrounded by police officers which forced him to sleep in the nearby swamp.
Rumanzi told www.mknewslink.com reporter that he also received threat messages on his personal phone from unknown numbers alerting him to leave the topic or else dies.
“I will not be intimidated, I will continue working my profession accordingly and am ready to fight all the incidents,’’ Bob was quoted.
