KABALE RENOWNED BUSINESSMAN ARRESTED FOR STEALING GRANDMOTHER’S LAND TITLE

Police in Kabale are holding a renowned business man for stealing a land title his 80 year old grandmother.
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com reporter at his home, Bitress Tushemerirwe a resident of Rwakaraba B Cell, Nyabikoni Ward, Central Division Kabale Municipality said that she bought her land located in Rwakaraba B cell on 11/11/1992 from the late Steven Kakoza.
Tushemerirwe said that after the agreement, the late Kakoza requested her to travel with him to Mbarara to process a land title. But due to old age, she entrusted her Nephew Francis Twinomugisha to go with Kakoza in Mbarara to process a land title.
However, Francis kept on deceiving her that the land title is still in the process and that when she tried to inquire about the whereabouts of the title, Francis deserted her home.
Bitress added that on 13/02/2000, she sold the same land to Anthony Muhangi a business man in Kabale Municipality without a land title because she knew it was still under processing in Mbarara.
However, when Anthony started constructing, she was shocked to see Francis coming claiming that the land is his and should stop construction with immediate effect.
It was from this point that Bitress rushed to Rwakaraba Police post and opened a case against Francis under the reference Number, Theft of land Title 05/19/01/2022
Anthony Mugisha a business man in Kabale town, told our reporter that Bitress promised him to give him a land title with time but was shocked to see Francis calling him on a phone call requesting him to pay him money if he wanted a land title.
Anthony added that on Interrogation, Francis brought a photocopied land title and vowed to have his original land title or end in courts of laws.
Clovis Twinebirungi chairperson Lc1 who signed the agreement of Bitress selling the land to Anthony said that he is not seeing the reason why Francis has kept on deceiving the very old woman.
Elly mate the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson confirmed the arrest of Twinomugisha Francis and condemned the act.
