KABALE RESIDENT WANTS SECURITY TO BLOCK RDC NANDINDA’S FAREWELL PARTY
By Ambrose Kweronda
In Kabale—
A resident of Kabale Northern Division in Kabale municipality has petitioned security and health authorities in the area to call off the planned farewell party for the outgoing RDC Darius Nandinda.
Nandiinda was recently transferred to Nakasongola sparking off jubilations from the locals saying that he had overstayed his welcome in the district.
Nandinda is accused by residents of perpetuating torture, extortion, intimidation, influence peddling among others.
Now Pierre Mbabazi a concerned citizen says that it is unfortunate that a group of sympathizers is organizing a function that will bring together hundreds of people disregarding the COVID-19 directives and guidelines as issued by the president.
Mbabazi in a letter dated 13th September 2021, asks the current Resident District Commissioner to order his secretary Maureen Namanya to immediately suspend the move to mobilize funds meant for the cause.
The organizers of the function who have already contributed money for the cause include Kabale municipality mayor Sentaro Byamugisha who has already contributed 500,000 shillings, Former Kabale district internal security officer identified as Kasheija who has contributed 300,000 shillings, Sunday Eric who has contributed shillings 500,000 among others.
Pierre also attached the list of the contributions where the former resident district commissioner Darius Nandinda has himself contributed shillings 1,000,000 for the cause saying that this will endanger the lives of the innocent Ugandans by escalating the spread of COVID-19.
In the same letter, the concerned citizen calls for immediate intervention of the Ministry of health, office of the presidency, police and the minister of presidency.
The office of the current Resident District Commissioner Godfrey Nyakahuma has acknowledged receipt of the letter but is yet to comment on the matter.
