KABALE RESIDENTS IN FEAR OVER DISTRICT’S LACK OF ISOLATION CENTRE FOR CORONA VIRUS SUSPECTED PATIENTS

Lack of Corona Virus isolation centre have triggered fear among Kabale district residents and health team.
On 22 march 2020, 95 travelers including Metropolitan Innocentious Byakatonda, the Orthodox Archbishop in Charge of Burundi and Rwanda were quarantined at Kirigime Guest house in Kabale district after being intercepted while traveling in two Jaguar buses from Rwanda to Uganda. .
Kabale District Health Officer Alfred Besigensi says that as the district corona virus task force they are worried on where to put the suspected corona virus patients in the district.
Dr. Alfred added that currently 95 suspects are being quarantined at Kirigime guest house since the district doesn’t have any allocated/specified place for the corona virus suspects.
Dr Gilbert Mateeca ,the corona virus case committee chairperson says that the district currently don’t have corona suspect isolation centre but only had the isolation centre which can accommodate just seven patients.
Dr Mateeca also added that the district has not yet confirmed any corona virus positive victim but appealed to public to continue adhere president museveni’s directives to prevent the disease in the country.
Mateka also noted that this disease has caused havoc worldwide.
Darius Nandinda, the Kabale district resident commissioner who doubles as the district corona virus task force said that the district will be using Kabale comphesive nursing school located at Makanga hill while preparing for the good place.
