Over of 72 road gangs and their supervisors in Kabale municipality are complaining over nonpayment of their wages since October last year.
The road gangs are each paid 200,000 shillings per month whereas their
supervisors are paid 250,000 Ugandan shillings monthly. They now claim that they have not received their wages for the last three months of
October, November and December 2018.
The road gangs who talked to www.mknewslink.com on conditions of anonymity said that they are now struggling to provide for their families with the required basic needs like food and childrens education because they are financially incapable.
They wonder why the responsible municipal authorities have kept a deaf ear on their several complaints.
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com on phone, the Kabale municipality mayor, Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha and the Kabale municipal town clerk,Joseph Monday said that they are aware of the problem but promised to address it in the coming week.
