In Kabale——
Health authorities from Kabale Municipality have given an ultimatum of two weeks to the management of Kabale shopping arcade to improve the sanitation or risk closure.
Kabale shopping arcade building accommodates internet cafes, betting companies, bars, lodges, stationeries, hotels, retail shops, photo studios among others.
Yesterday, a team of health officials from Kabale Municipal council
led by the Kabale municipality health inspector Andrew Beija visited
the building and discovered that the corridors of the building are
filled up with fecal matters which expose the residents to hygiene related illnesses.
Beija sail that the building has become a health hazard adding that, unless the situation is addressed in two weeks time, it will be
closed.
He also said that they have ordered Jackson Tibineyo alias Kabode, the director of Kabale shopping arcade to make three toilets in the building free, rather than charging 200 shillings.
When contacted, Tibineyo admitted that the corridors have turned into toilets and urinal places.
He said that people who come from outside the building especially in garages are the ones who urinate and defecate in the building corridors.
