KABALE TEACHER WANTED OVER TORTURING STUDENT

Police in Kabale district is hunting for a teacher of Nyabikoni secondary school in Kabale Municipality who is alleged to have tortured a senior two student.
The suspect, Mark Conrad is alleged to have tortured the student (14) by beating accusing him for failing midterm commerce examination, on 12th April 2018. It’s said that the teacher held the stick and beat up the child on the hand and broke it.
Anna Koburungi, the mother of Benjamin Mugambagye the victim, from Mwendo Kitumba in Kabale district narrates that her child was admitted at Mwesigye clinic in Kigongi Kabale municipality and the arm was plastered. Koburungi adds that she reported the matter Nyabikoni school administrators but they kept a deaf ear.
Koburungi also says that she also reported the matter to Kabale police station under files number CRB 853/2018 and she has never received any help.
The head teacher Nyabikoni Secondary School Apollo Barigye confirms having the received the complaint. He however accuses Koburungi for demanding 700,000 shillings as medical bills yet she had been charged 160,000shilings. He says that after Koburungi asked lot of money, the teacher ran away from school and he has been deleted from staff list.
The Kigezi region police Spokesperson; Elly Maate confirms that police is hunting for the accused teacher to answer charges of torture. He has however asked school administrators to condemn the act, saying they maybe held vacuously liable.
