KABALE UNIVERSITY STUDENT COMMITS SUICIDE

Police in Rukiga are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of 22 year old Kabale university student who allegedly committed suicide.

Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson identified the deceased as Bibiana Nasasira a resident of Rweza cell, Kitojo parish Rwamucucu Sub County who was pursuing bachelors degree in social work and administration.

She allegedly committed suicide by hanging on 29th of June 2022 at around 05:00hrs at Rweza cell in a tree behind the sister’s house for yet unknown reason.

It’s alleged that on the 27.06.2022 the deceased went to visit her sister t with intentions of residing with her since she was to start her internship at Rukiga district Local Gov’t headquarters.

Maate said on 28th June, 2022 in the evening, the sister detected her being restless and when asked what the problem was, she couldn’t say anything till yesterday morning at around 0500hrs when the neighbor saw the deceased hanging on a tree behind the sister’s house using a lesu.

Scene was visited by the Homicide team led by D/AIP Turyamutangurira Nelson, documented and the body was handed over to the family members for burial.

The case of suicide was registered at Rukiga Central Police station under reference number CRB: 280/2022.

The father to the deceased Kalist Sigirenda 54 years of Rutoma cell Nyakagabagaba parish Rwamucucu Sub County said he has lost so many people to suicide so it’s a family curse.
