In Kabale—
Police in Kabale district are holding a woman for allegedly kidnapping a 6-year old girl of Rubanda district.
The suspect was identified as Latibo Tibo alias Emaculate Musimenta, a resident of Mpakawero cell in Mpakawero ward in Bombo Town Council Subcounty in Luwero District.
Musimenta was arrested on Monday night from the home of Herbert Twinomugisha, a resident of Rwabaremera village in Kahondo parish in Maziba Sub County for allegedly kidnapping a 6-year old Angel Niwahereza, a pupil at Kibuzigye primary school on 16th July 2018 at around 9:00am when she was on her way to school and demanded for a 180 million ransom.
According to the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate, Musimenta was detained at Kira Road Police Station on 25th August 2018 but when she was being transported to Kabale Police Station in Gateway bus, she escaped from police escorts at Omugyenyi town along Ntungamo-Kabale road.
Maate says that on 30th august 2018, she was re-arrested in Nakaseke District and detained at Nakaseke police station where she again escaped from the police cells until yesterday when she was arrested. It is the same day that Niwahereza was recovered and handed over to Besigye Joseph her grandfather on 3rd September 2018.
Maate thus calls on parents not to leave their children alone or leaving them to go alone to school as this is the only way to protect them from kidnappers.
