KABALE WOMEN LEADERS RECEIVE 10 HEIFERS AS PART OF PRESIDENT’S PLEDGE

Ten women leaders from Kabale district have received ten (10) in-calf heifers under the Presidential initiative for wealth creation among women leaders across the country through the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS).
The 10 heifers are part of the 60 in-calf heifers President Yoweri Museveni pledged to the women leaders in Kigezi Sub Region as one of the initiatives to uplift the well-being of women in the country.
The heifers were handed over to the beneficiaries by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Tebarura, Kabale District Operation Wealth Creation Coordinator at Makanaga hill Kabale municipality.
In his speech,Col. Tebarura who was the Chief Guest emphasized the need to economically empower women in order to eliminate gender-based violence.
He said the NRM government has strived to support as well as emancipate women and girl children by introducing technologies that reduce their labor like the fetching of water from distant water points or looking for firewood in the bushes.
Loy Zikamperaza thanked the government for the donation saying that it will help in improving the income of the district as well as fighting poverty among locals.
The beneficiaries including Loy Zikamperaza Kabale women league chairperson, Norah Twenda, and Patience Tumusiime Nyesigire among others commended the government and the president of Uganda for the donation.
Since 2014, the Government through NAADS has distributed more than 190,000 dairy cattle mainly targeting the women and the youth for food security and improved household incomes.
