KABAREEBE WINS PROF.MUTEBILE GOLF OPEN IN KABALE

Edson Kabarebe of Kabale Golf club was last evening crowned champion of the Professor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile golf open, the governor Bank of Uganda after gunning Nett 65.
The Professor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebire Golf open that is annually organized to celebrate Mutebire’s birthday and the 2018 open was its first edition on Uganda Golf Union calendar.
Kabarebe who was in group A was followed by Itengo Monday with Nett 67 and Frank Ahimbisibwe with Nett 72.
Abel Naturinda was declared winner of group B after gunning Nett 66 and Isaac Docker was also declared winner of group C with Nett 62.
In women category, Macklin Nsenga was declared a winner of group B with Nett 64 and Edrea Kagombe was also declared winner of group A with Nett 71.
In professionals, Robert Happy was also crowned the champion of tournament with gross 72. He was followed by Saidi Mawa, Abby Bagarana, and Fred Wanzara who all gunned gross 74.
Speaking at the handover of trophies at Kabale Golf club in Kabale municipality, the Kabale Golf club Captain Adam Tusiime said the championship attracted 48 players and 12 professionals.
He said that the tournament attracted players from Mbarara Golf club, Tooro Golf Club, Palm Valley Golf club, Kigali Golf Club, and Kabale Golf Club. Tusiime expressed concern over people’s misconception that golf is played by only rich people.
Kabarebe, who was crowned champion, expressed the concern of lack funds to buy Clubs to use in Golf.
Speaking as a chief guest is the Executive Director of Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI). Professor Charles Kwesiga asked the golf leadership to always account for funds, if the Golf club is to prosper.
