Residents of Nyamitoma and Humura villages have threatened to stage a peaceful demonstration over shoddy work on the Humura-Kasusu-Nyamitoma road in Karambi sub county Kabarole.
The angry and disgruntled residents who spoke to www.mknewslink.com this morning say the district early this month graded their road that has become impassable.
They explained that the district engineer pored soils instead of Murrum and the road is worse especially when it rains. Residents added that this has put their lives at risk citing road accidents, poor transport system whereby expectant mothers may die while going to hospital and among others.
Sunday Richard the chairperson LC1 said that the soil that was poured in the road as murrum was bought from one of the rich man in the area who was grading his land.
The residents called upon the authorities to intervene as soon as possible.
Joseph Mashuhuko the district councilor Karambi blamed the district engineer for starting work without informing the area leadership.
Mashuhuko states that the district council resolved that before grading the road starts, there should be bills of quatities, site meeting with residents which was not the case saying that this was intentionally done to embezzle public funds.
However, Richard Rwabuhinga the Kabarole district chairperson said that the road was done in a rainy season thus urging residents to be calm until he visits the place.
