By our reporter
In Kampala–
Vision Group’s Managing Director and CEO Robert Kabushenga has resigned.
In an email to all the Vision Group staff on Friday January 29, 2021, Kabushenga explained his decision, in which he said the board had agreed to.
“This is to let you know that for personal reasons I have asked the Board for an early retirement and this has been accepted,” he wrote.
Kabushenga explained that he will oversee a 90-day transition, as requested by the Board, before moving on.
“I am proud of the success we achieved and the impact we have had in society. This was possible because we worked together as a team. No single person could have done it on their own, certainly not me. It was an absolute honor and pleasure to have done so,” he explained.
Kabushenga has been the CEO of the news company since 2007.
He has been the engine for growth at Vision group therefore his departure speaks volumes for the growth of vision group.
The strength of this successor will determine whether vision group will grow or fully collapse.
Vision group has a lot of financial challenges because of COVID 19, social media and online newspapers which are outcompeting the giant.
Kabushenga first closed vernacular newspapers Etop, Orumuri and Rupiny in March 2020.
Kabushenya wanted to cut the company by 50%by reducing staff drastically and closing some other sister companies but staff took him to cabinet which resolved that he should not cut it.
DID KABUSHENGA JUMP THE FIRING ROPE OR HE RESIGNED WILLINGLY?
President Museveni has been very much attacking Kabushenga at whatever function and plans to fire him were under way reason being that he twined with Buganda kingdom to fight the president and his government.
