KAGADI: MOTHER ARRESTED FOR DUMPING BABY

KAGADI:
Police in Kagadi district have arrested an 18-year-old mother on allegations of dumping a newly born baby.

It is alleged that the suspect identified as Allen Natukunda gave birth at Kagadi General Hospital and the baby went missing.

The Kagadi district police commanders told our reporter Tuesday evening that the suspect who is a resident of Mukasoha trading center in Kagadi sub-county Kagadi district has been arrested.

‘’She is detained at Kagadi Central Police Station pending investigations,’’ he said.

According to the police officer, the suspect had for a long time been fooling her husband that she is pregnant and on Monday evening she went to Kagadi hospital to deliver but moments later she claimed that her born baby had been stolen away by unknown people.

However the hospital management got suspicious of Allen Natukunda’s statements and was handed over to Kagadi police for interrogation.

SP Muzima says the suspect has already recorded a statement and further investigations on the matter are ongoing.

‘’We are investigating to ascertain the truth of the matter and if her allegations are proved false will be charged in accordance with the law,’’ he said.
