Nyabushozi county in Kiruhura district will return to polls on Tuesday, October,13th,2020 with 84 villages participating in the fresh NRM parliamentary primaries.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa who doubles as the NRM National party chairman on Thursday Oct,8th,2020 ordered for fresh primary elections in 84 villages of Nyabushozi that were marred with violence among other irregularities in the previous elections.
This was during the Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting at state house Entebbe following the public outcry as loser Wilson Kajwengye accused the incumbent Col. (Rtd.) Fred Mwesigye of having a hand in the irregularities.
Mwesigye had been declared the winner with 54,996 votes yet the total vote count for the district woman MP held on the same day was 41,629 votes which caused numerous questions
Several CEC members said that the committee determined that fresh elections would clear all the doubts about the credibility of the electoral process
Initially, the National party chairman had guided that fresh elections be conducted in 28 villages but they didn’t happen after Kajwengye boycotted the elections on Oct,6th ,2020 while the other candidate Bakashaba Christopher had lost interest in the polls
