The Kakiika division NRM chairman Benon Mugume and former Mbarara Mayor Wilson Tumwine who is currently the Mbarara city NRM chairman have locked horns over politics.
Mugume accuses Tumwine of conflict of interest and mixing personal issues with the NRM primaries by supporting and endorsing Gumisiriza Kyabwisho who recently won the NRM flag in Mbarara city North division mayoral race.
On Thursday, Sept,24,2020 Mugume and his supporters flogged the NRM offices in Kakyeka Kamukuzi seeking clarification on why Tumwine had stamped Kyabwisho’s papers for nomination yet Mugume is still protesting results from 19 cells.
The Mbarara city NRM registrar Ssebuma Kaweesi who faulted Tumwine for using his powers as the chairman to endorse Kyabwisho confirmed that authorities are handling the matter and if elections are to be repeated, they would be in 7 cells not 19 cells as Mugume alleges
“I have issues with Tumwine I can’t hide this, he thinks if am not a leader he can take over the entire Koranorya but he should forget about that, ” Mugume added
Mugume claims that some people are fighting him because he has occasionally hindered their ill intentions causing them to flop and if this matter is not resolved he will participate in the general elections organized by electoral commission not the primaries under Tumwine’s supervision.
Efforts to get a comment from Tumwine who witnessed the scenario at NRM offices were futile since he never responded to these allegations by Mugume.
