KAMBUGA HOSPITAL IN KANUNGU UPGRADED TO REFERRAL HOSPITAL

Kambuga hospital in kanungu district has been upgraded to a referral hospital by the Ministry of health
This was revealed by the Minister of health Dr. Ruth Aceng who was the chief guest and she officially launched for construction and extension of Kambuga hospital into a referral hospital.
Dr. Ruth Aceng said that when she visited Kanungu district in the last term, she witnessed the terrain and how hard to reach the area is, hence decided to declare Kambuga as a referral and Kinaba was given a health Center III and Muramba in Rutenga a health center II because the place was unreachable and without any facility.
Hon. Aceng said that in pursuit of Uganda vision 2040, the health sector aims at ensuring Uganda to have a productive population that effectively contributes to social- economic growth which will be achieved by provision of accessible and health care to all people of Uganda.
She said that the assessment carried out indicates ugx 40 billion for civil construction and ugx 10 billion for equipment but it will be in phases to enable the hospital continue with its operations.
Kambuga Hospital is one of the key priority hospitals that government through the ministry of health planned for refurbishment in its strategic plan of 2020-2025.
Kambuga Medical Superintendent Dr. Kasudha Daniel said they are honored to receive the Minister at Kambuga hospital few minutes after launching the expansion of Kambuga hospital laboratory supported by EGPAF- USAID RHITES- SW project at a cost of 269,000,000 shillings.
He requested for a new ambulance as the one they have is very old and costly.
He said Kambuga hospital is a 100- bed Capacity district hospital which was commissioned in 1968, it serves the districts of Kanungu, Rukungiri, Rukiga and some parts of DR- Congo.
