People from kamwenge district have expressed mixed reactions over the 100 billion shillings money that was introduced by government to buy the maize grain, whose price had depreciated to less than 200 shillings.
The residents noted that the idea of government putting 100 billion shillings to solve the maize corn problem would have solved the crisis but still cost are high especially when it comes to transporting the produce to the buyers
When asked on how famers would take their produce to the people with large stores and on whose cost, the head of trade credit facility from bank of Uganda Ms. Rosette Bamwine, said that famers will come to terms with people who own large stores on a gentle man’s agreement on how to share the cost of transport, but rather cautioned them on selling their produce at cheap cost.
The Uganda government put 100 billion shillings to solve the problem of the maize grain depreciated price, but it remains unclear to whom traders with large store will sell the maize and for how long they will keep it.
