KAMWENGE TOPS IN CRIMINAL CASES: 2018 POLICE REPORT

Kamwenge district has been reported on top in criminal cases in the Rwenzori Region, according to the 2018 Police report.
Rwenzori West Police Spokesperson Lydia Tumushabe has revealed that 10,341 criminal cases were registered in the region.
She narrates that of these Kamwenge ranked number one with 1,628 cases, Kabarole second with 1,553, Kyegegwa third with 1,209, Bundibugyo 4th with 983cases, followed by Bunyangabu 737 and Ntoroko had the least number of 379.
According to Tumushabe, the districts
registered higher number of
theft cases, followed by assault, Sexual related cases, robbery,
murder and child abuse.
She explains that the region registered a
reduction in crime in 2018
compared to 2017 when they registered over 10,500 cases.
She attributed the reduction to increased community policing, introduction of the neighborhood watch, increased operations with security agencies among others.
