KANDAGO PRIMARY RECEIVES OVER 33MILLION FOR STAFF QUARTERS CONSTRUCTION

Over 33 million has been raised for the construction of staff quarters at Kandago Primary School in Bukinda Sub County, Rukiga District.
The funds were raised during a thanksgiving drive held yesterday at St. John’s Kandago COU Parish, led by Mr. Erasmus Habasa, the director of Brainstorm High School Kabale.
During the event, Honorable Roland Ndyomugyenyi Bish, the Member of Parliament for Rukiga County, served as the guest of honor and highlighted several upcoming benefits for the district in the next financial year.
These include 1 billion shillings for road renovation, in addition to the usual road fund, 3 billion shillings for the PDM program, 1 billion shillings to rehabilitate the Noozi-Butambi road up to Rubanda District, and 500 million shillings for a multipurpose hall at St. Paul’s, among other projects.
The Legislator, who contributed over 5 million shillings, further encouraged parents to prioritize their children’s education, as it can greatly impact their future.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining nearby and affordable schools in good condition, as it may take a long time for the government to provide assistance, and highlighted the value of quality education over expensive institutions.
Rev. Con Manase Johnson, Archdeacon Nyabirarema Archdeaconry in the diocese of Kigezi, emphasized the ongoing changes in qualifications for government employment, particularly for teachers who now require a bachelor’s degree for secondary teaching and a diploma for primary teaching.
Quoting the Bible verse in 2 Corinthians 9:6, which states that those who sow generously will reap generously.
Rev. Manase encouraged parents and guardians to invest in education for their children’s future success.
Mr. Erasmus Habasa, the chief organizer of the thanksgiving drive, mentioned that having teachers residing at the school is advantageous for effective monitoring of school activities.
Lonah Kwarikunda, the head teacher of Kandago Primary School, added that they were left without staff quarters after the church provided land to the government for the construction of a new school. As a result, seven staff houses had to be demolished.
Kandago Primary School is a government-aided school that was founded by the church in 1976 under the Diocese of Kigezi.
