KANUNGU BUSINESSMAN STABBED BY SUSPECTED THUGS AT HIS GATE

Police in Kanungu are hunting for unknown thugs suspected to have robbed a vehicle from Kihihi based businessman after stabbing him on Saturday night.
According to the Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson 4 suspected thugs attacked Charles Kwiringira who was driving his car registration number UAQ 209Q in Kashoojwa village.
Kwiringira narrated that the suspected thugs, one of whom was dressed in a uniform similar to that of UPDF equipped with a panga intercepted him at his gate and a scuffle ensued but he together with family members managed to flee leaving the car behind.
Kwiringira said that the suspected thugs were determined to finish him but he fought them off with support from his domestic workers.
According to John Kashumba the Kihihi police station OC, when the Police got information that the suspected robbers were fleeing using the newly constructed Kihihi – Nyamirama – Rukungiri road, they contacted their counterparts and deployed heavily along the major routes.
It’s at this point that the OC Police in Nyamirama, Olargui Innocent together with his team joined the chase and intercepted the thugs at Bikurungu in Rukungiri District where the thugs abandoned the car and fled.
Police recovered sharp panga, sticks, a phone and some documents which the Police hope to use in tracking down the suspects while the vehicle was taken to Nyamirama Police Station.
OC CID Kanungu Arthur Twinamasiko has confirmed that the case of aggravated robbery has been registered at Kihihi Police Station under reference CRB 78/2022 to help in investigations.
