KANUNGU COUNCILORS STRIKE OVER GRACIA FUNDS

Councilors from Mpungu Sub County Kanungu district yesterday went on strike demanding for their gracia funds which they have not received from the district.

Yesterday 13 councilors stormed district head quarters demanding their funds but things didn’t go well as they expected, CAO promised to call technical staff and solve their complaint.

Councilors claimed that every year they are supposed to be given 420000 (four hundred twenty thousand shillings only which they have not received this year.

One of the lead councilors Deus Turinawe the councilor for Mpungu parish disclosed to www.mknewslink.com  that they were supposed to be given fifty thousand (50000) every seating which they never got but hoped that they would get this money quarterly.

Gracia funds are takeaway home for most councilors since they are not given any salary.

However by press time councilors had vowed to remain at the district headquarters till they are given their allowances.

Recently Kanungu town council councilors also had a peaceful demonstration demanding their gracias funds which they got later.
