KANUNGU MAN HACKED TO DEATH

Police in Kanungu district are hunting for an unidentified assailant who attacked and fatally injured Agaba Ivan, a 52-year-old male peasant farmer resident of Katwa village, Bushura parish, Kirima sub-county in Kanungu district which led to his death after few days

Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, told www.mknewslink.com reporter that on November 19, 2023, at approximately 2:00 am in Katwa village, Bushura parish, Kirima sub-county, the assailant attacked Agaba Ivan at about 20 meters from his home.

The victim’s efforts to raise an alarm, the attacker fled the scene before Agaba’s biological sister, Oribariho Eudia, could intervene.

Maate reported that the assault case was promptly reported to Kirima police post. The deceased was initially taken to Kanungu Health Centre IV for treatment but was later transferred to Kabale hospital. On November 25, 2023, he was further referred to Mbarara hospital uunfortunately, Agaba succumbed to his injuries along the Ntungamo-Mbarara highway while heading to Mbarara hospital. His body was subsequently transported back to his residence for burial.

The crime scene was investigated by a team of detectives, led by D/SP David Dauna, Tumusabe Francis (D/SOCO Kanungu), and homicide detectives. A postmortem was conducted, and the body was handed over to the relatives for a proper burial. As of now, the assailant remains at large.

The case has been registered at Kanungu District Police Station under the reference number Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) 762/2023
