Stakeholders in Mubende district have embarked on a process to remind the Ministry of Local Government of the long awaited new district of Kasambya which they want to be elevated from Mubende effective 1st July 2020.
Mubende district on 2nd November 2010 passed a resolution to create Kasambya District which motion was validated on 6th March 2019 but their plea has not come to pass as the ministry of local government has been reluctant.
The population in Kasambya has grown due to increasing number of Economic activities and its location is disadvantageous in that people have to travel through Gomba and Kyegegwa to get to Mubende and seek services.
The document signed by Mubende District Chairperson Francis Kibuuka Amooti indicates that Ksambya will have two Constituencies of Kasambya North and Kasambya South.
The sub counties are Kasambya Sub County, Kasambya Town Council, Lubimbiri Sub County, Kigando Sub County, Kanyogoga Sub County, Kanyogoga Town Council, Lusiba Sub County, Nabingoola Sub County, Lusalira Sub County, Nabingoola Town Council, Kiyonga Sub County, Kibalinga Town Council, Kabowa Town Council and Bagezza Sub County.
The district has constituted a committee headed by Mr Kisanja Vicent to meet the ministry officials over the creation of the new district.
Mr Kisanja said Kasambya district was even promised by president Museveni in 2011 and 2016.
