KASESE YOUTH, WOMEN GROUPS RECEIVE FUNDING

In a milestone event held at the multipurpose hall in Kasese district, over 34 groups comprising five individuals each received funding under the Uganda Joint Programme for Women Entrepreneurship and Youth Livelihood Programs.
Ms. Caroline Rukundo Benda, the supervisor of the program, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the project’s objective of empowering youths and women in the country.
She expressed gratitude to the government for supporting women’s empowerment initiatives, which she believes will enable women and youths to turn their dreams into reality.
Ms. Rukundo advised the beneficiaries to utilize the funds wisely, ensuring that their business ideas align with their goals.
She stressed the importance of responsible financial management, urging them to make the most of this opportunity.
Angela Birungi, the Kasese District Chairperson for the program, echoed Ms. Rukundo’s sentiments, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability in the use of funds.
She cautioned against misusing the funds for personal gain, highlighting the importance of family responsibilities and avoiding domestic violence.
Ms. Asiimwe Queen Gonza, the Kasese District Senior Community Development Officer, elaborated on the repayment terms, explaining that the funds must be repaid within three years.
She encouraged beneficiaries to understand the terms and conditions, noting that early repayment will not attract any penalties or interest.
Yasine Bwambale Kadogo, the District Youths Chairperson, offered words of wisdom to the youths, advising them to prioritize their business ventures and avoid distractions like marriage and unnecessary expenses, such as purchasing new smartphones.
He emphasized the need for responsible financial management and focus on their entrepreneurial goals.
