Six Kashenshero Sacco employees in Mitooma district have been sacked after being indicted in an over more than Shs.354M theft scandal.
Those who were sacked are the Sacco manager, Accountant, loans manager, Ass.Loans manager and other two employeeswho were handling finance.
It is alleged that they stole the money by compromising the Sacco auditors under the leadership of Fred Bikorwa, the former chairman board.
The scam came to the light when the Sacco got a new Chairman Board Tugambegye Benon Mugisha triggering an audit which exposed that UGX354.100.754 was embezzled between 2016 and 2019.
During the Saccos 16th Annual General Meeting held on 11thmay 2019 atBubangizi secondary school play ground in Kashenshero town council,Tugambegye told members that Eric Byamukama, the Sacco accountant usedhis position to steal Shs147.705.410.
Henry Mugabe used his position as the Sacco loans manager to steal Shs44.967.132.
The other four are Apollo Barekye, the Ass. Loans manager accused of taking Shs13.721.200, Kakiga Geofrey the Sacco manager accused of taking Shs85.959.232, Betty Beingana accused of taking Shs55.709.380 andImmaculate Naruhuka who was handling the Sacco mobile money accused ofembezzling Shs8.365.000.
Tugambegye revealed that the accused started refunding the money sinceSaturday 16th March 2019 after investigators disclosed the allegationsagainst them and so far shs115M has been recovered.
Kashenshero Sacco which started nine years ago has a total of 1,260 members.
