KATEERERA MP SEAT: TWO BROTHERS ALMOST KILL EACH OTHER IN CAMPAIGNS

There is extreme divisionism in Kateerera county Rubirizi district as two step brothers Hatwib Katooto and Muhammed Katooto fight for the same parliamentary seat.

The incumbent Member of Parliament has been the legislator for the county since 2011 when it was curved out of Bunyaruguru county same district Rubirizi.

Muhammed Katooto   the current NRM flag bearer tried against the brother in 2016 but never won.

His papers were questionable thus he decided to go back to school and successfully passed A’ level.

He came back in 2020 NRM primaries with his papers and won the primaries.

His brother and arch rival Hatwib Katooto decided to come back as independent and he is also seriously canvassing for votes from home to home, house to house.

Political analysts yesterday intimated to www.mknewslink.com managing editor that this time around, Muhammed Katooto has higher chances compared to his brother Hatwib Katooto.

The new county Kateerera is dominated by one family of mzee Katooto a mukiga and Muslim with different wives whose children are divided alongside their mothers.

Before Kateerera became a constituency in 2006, Muhammed supported his brother Hatwib and they almost defeated the winner Tindamanyire Kaboondo.

However, when they got their independent county Kateerera, the brothers opened political wars which do not have a quick solution.
