Police in Kibale are investigating the circumstances under which a woman and her son allegedly beat her husband to death.
ASP Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Police region spokesperson has identified the deceased as Emmanuel Rubumba, 50 and a resident of Bubumba Village, Nyamarwa Parish, Nyamarwa Sub County. Hakiza says Rubumba is suspected to have been killed by his wife Mukanabana Perepetwa and her son only identified as Ategeka.
The incident happened in the couple’s house on 21st July 2022 at around 1pm in Bubumba Village.
Hakiza says it is alleged that the couple has been feuding for a long time over domestic issues.
He adds that the deceased’s daughter aged 14 years whose name has been withheld told the police that her father picked a quarrel with her mother on 20th July 2022 prompting their son to join the mother, hitting his father with a club on the head.
Rubumba sustained serious injuries on the head and arms and was rushed to Hakabale trading center for treatment.
He was later discharged and went back home the following day where he surprisingly died shortly after.
The police officer revealed that detectives visited the scene of crime and recorded statements from the witnesses.
The officers also arrested Mukanabana Perepetwa and are still hunting for Ategeka who is on the run.
Hakiza urges the members of the general public to always report domestic related cases to the police to avoid cases like murder that may easily destabilize most of the families.
