KIBATSI TECHNICAL INSTITUTE RECEIVES 390M SHS TO SUPPORT PLUMBING, WELDING

Ntungamo district based Kibatsi technical institute that was recently rehabilitated and constructed at a cost of over UShs 10bn has been equipped by the Ministry of education and sports with workshops, laboratories worth over UShs 390M to facilitate plumbing and welding courses.
The funding of US $1,064,917.93 (worth UShs 3,940,192,900=) is a loan funding acquired from the Kuwait fund for Arab Economic Development through the ministry of education that also had three other technical institutes rehabilitated in the country.
The other three include Ahmed Seguya Memorial Technical institute in Kayunga district, Tororo technical institute in Tororo district and Kalongo technical institute in Agago district.
Mr Samson Wako, the project consultant said that the contract given to an Indian company Techfab International Pvt Ltd in 2016 included supply of furniture, workshop equipment, text books, ICT equipment and a 30 seater bus which have already been delivered to the institute. He however said that the contract that was meant to last for 210 days was much delayed affecting much of the works.
“We are going to effect this project in a bid to support the government’s initiative of skilling Ugandans as well as curbing down Unemployment” Wako added.
The Ntungamo senior education officer Ms Peace Atamba commended the ministry for equipping the institute asking the institute administration to ensure that the equipment is properly used and run the test of time.
