KIGEZI HIGH SCHOOL FIRES 500 STUDENTS

500 students of Kigezi high school in Kabale municipality yesterday
suspended from school for allegedly planning to stage a violent
strike.
The suspended students are all boys from senior one, two, three and
some boys from senior four, five and senior six.
According to the Kigezi high school head teacher; Steven Mugume, the
students started today morning pressuring the school administration
demanding the eight students that were arrested on Tuesday to be
reversed back to the school. The Eight students were arrested by
police on 18th October 2017 following a violent strike Monday night.
The students who were arrested were the ring leaders who organized
other students and they went on rampage at around on Monday at around
11:00PM after revision time and burnt down, a dormitory that
accommodates prefects known as White House and all the property
including books, clothes and beddings were complete burnt to ashes.
The Students also attacked a house that accommodates one of the
teachers and destroyed house hold property worth million shillings.
However Mugume says that today morning they denied to take breakfast
and lunch and the board members who sat today at the school resolved
to suspend indiscipline students so as they can learn how to behave.
He says that they have suspended them to avoid a violent strike from
taking place in the school saying that prevention is better than cure.
Mugume added that the school board will sit tomorrow and decide when
the suspended students will turn back to the school.
