KIGEZI POLICE WARN ASPIRING MPS AGAINST MAKING PROCESSION AFTER NOMINATIONS

The Kigezi region security operatives have warned aspiring Members of Parliament against making processions and rallies within town after their nominations.
Aspiring Members of Parliament are supposed to be nominated today 15th and tomorrow 16th for general elections within their respective districts, according to the electoral commission.
Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Matte says that candidates, agents and their supporters are asked to remain vigilant and stick to the Electoral Commission guidelines of only two vehicles moving for the registration exercise.
Matte adds that police will be deployed in ways and township areas to disperse all kinds of candidates who will make processions of any kind in order to minimize on gathering numbers of people as a preventive measure to guard against the spread of COVID 19 pandemic.
He noted that any person who will fail to adhere to the EC guidelines in line with the MOH and presidential directives on COVID 19 will do so at his own risk and as security, the law must take its course.
