In Rubanda—
The National Unity Platform (NUP) coordinator for Kigezi region and flag bearer for Rubanda East Constituency Member of Parliament, Jasper Ayebare has crossed to the ruling National Resistance Movement, three days to the voting day.
Ayebare crossed to NRM at a function held at Kabale National Teachers College Kabale, presided over by the Kabale district NRM Chairperson, the State Minister of Finance in Charge of Planning Hon David Bahati.
In attendance was also the Kabale Resident District Commissioner Darius Nandinda among other Kabale district NRM leaders.
Ayebare said that his decision was aimed at choosing peace and disassociating from a group that has elements of destabilizing the country, allegedly sponsored by Homosexuals from foreign Countries.
He noted that Kyagulanyi is selfish and only minds about candidates in Buganda region and did not even refund his nomination fees which angered him.
Jasper added that as NUP coordinators in the region, they have always been harassed and arrested by Police but Kyagulanyi could not follow up on their arrests to get them out of prisons.
Jasper crossed with other 37 alleged NUP supporters from districts of Rukiga, Rubanda, Kanungu, Kisoro and Kabale though most of them never had any documents to verify them as NUP supporters.
Ayebare asked voters in Rubanda East Constituency to vote for the NRM flag bearer Hon Henry Musasizi as the flag bearer of his new party NRM.
Welcoming the group, Minister Bahati commended the members for choosing peace over violence adding that the move shall help strengthen the NRM party to especially win the Thursday election over their NUP counterparts.
Bahati asked the members to be good ambassadors of the NRM party in their respective communities for the continuation of the party achievements.
