‘’We have constructed 54 tap stands and each tap stand is to serve 200 people in a day,’’ he added.
The water project will serve the six villages of Kyabasambu, Songs A and B, Kyakapere, Sunzu A and B.
The Kikuube district LCV Chairperson Peter Banura applauded the government and CNOOC for the initiative saying residents will now have access to clean and safe drinking water.
Racing Nyamundu, a resident of songs landing site says the water system will help reduce the outbreak of diseases such as cholera, typhoid and diarrhoea that are common in the area due to consumption of contaminated water from the lake.
