KIKUUBE RDC ORDERS TYCOON NYAKANA TO STOP SURVEY OF BUHIMBA CONTESTED LAND

In Kikuube—
Kikuube Resident District Commissioner Amulan Tumusiime has halted the surveying of a contested piece of land in Buhimba sub-county, Kikuube district.
Over 200 residents from five villages of Kizinga main, Kizinga west, Rwomubazi, Kigarama and Kyabahesi are bickering with Edward Fredrick John Nyakana over the land on plot 8 Bugahya and block 19 Buswekera.
The conflict started when Nyakana came to survey the land one month ago with a court order that had been issued by the Hoima Chief Magistrate’s court dated 9th February, 2021.
But, the residents are contesting the boundary opening exercise on grounds that the court order was meant to be used to open land boundaries for land in Buswekera village in Hoima city and not their villages.
During a crisis meeting held in Kizinga village that was graced by the Kikuube district security team and residents, the RDC called off the surveying exercise until the matter was investigated.
He promised to talk to the Hoima district surveyor who is leading the exercise and the tycoon about the issue and warned security in the area against getting involved in the matter.
Gerald Irumba, the chairperson Rwomubazi village and Francis Nyaika, the LCI chairperson of Kizinga village have expressed concern over the harassment and intimidation by the tycoon’s agents saying it is unfair to evict residents on a piece of land they have lived for over 40 years.
