Mbarara high court has today set 04th August 2016 as the judgment day of the election petition that was filed against the Kiruhura district Chairperson Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katugunda.
Court presided over by Justice Winfred Nabisinde set 04th August this year after ending of the cross-examining of the respondent’s witnesses which ended with the first respondent Samuel Mugisha Katugunda.
The petition was filed by the former contestant in Kiruhura district chairpersonship seat Moses Bainamatsiko on grounds that Katugunda lacked minimum academic papers that qualified him to stand as Chairperson of Kiruhura district in the concluded general elections.
In the petition, it is alleged that Mugisha used someone’s academic papers in the Names of Sammy Mugisha and for him is called Samuel Mugisha the issue in which Katugunda says that it was just a matter of changing names when he was joining theology school where they needed biblical name before getting a vacancy and Sammy did not qualify.
The lawyer to Katugunda in this petition Ngaruye Ruhindi of Ngaruye Ruhindi and company advocates says that he is confident that his client will win this petition as they have managed to provide all the evidence that proves the eligibility of all academic papers of Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katugunda.
