One person has died while another was still nursing wounds after a suspected lunatic hacked two members of the same family in Kisoro village in Sub County, Kiryandongo district yesterday afternoon.
The victims are sisters and pastors at Kiryandongo Pentecostal Church of Uganda.
The deceased has been only identified as Abbey a younger sister to pastor Norah Apio, the senior pastor at the church.
Bishop Charles Bagonza, the general overseer of the Pentecostal Churches of Uganda says that the two who had returned home from a crusade in Busia district were hacked by a panga wielding lunatic at their home inflicting severe wounds on them.
Bishop Bagonza added that the two were rushed to Kiryandongo hospital where Abbey died shortly after admission.
Bishop Bagonza added that pastor Apio was undergoing treatment at the hospital’s intensive care unit.
Reports from Kiryandongo district indicate that the unidentified lunatic has been arrested by police in Kiryandongo but we could not confirm the reports as we could not reach the district police commander on the matter.
The incident comes less than two months after a man in Kirasa cell, Masindi central division Masindi district died after being stoned by a lunatic.
The lunatic hit the deceased in the chest with a stone at Kirasa Kampala trading centre.
Later police reported that they did not have money to take him for psychiatric test and unconfirmed reports indicated that he was released from police custody.
