KISORO ACCIDENT KILLS ONE, REV. FR, 3 OTHERS SURVIVE WITH SERIOUS INJURIES

Police in Kisoro district are investigating the cause of the accident that claimed life of an 84 year old woman and left other people injured.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson revealed that the accident occurred on Thursday 16th September 2021 at around 12:00 noon at Kanaba hills and corners along Kisoro Kabale road in Kisoro district.
Maate noted that the accident involved a motor vehicle Toyota Premio Registration number UAQ 365D driven by Fr. Vincent Turinawe 38, a priest at Kangole parish Moroto district.
According to Maate, the deceased has been identified as Jerimina Nyamihanda, 84 a resident of Mifunda village, Kabanyonyi parish, Buhara sub-county in Kabale district.
Fr. Vicent Turinawe and other passengers on board who included Sr. Arinaitwe Anexentia 45, resident of Rushoroza diocesan parish, Kabale District, Donanta Asimwe 40, a business woman and resident of Kiruhura District and Mantilda Tibizuka 70, a peasant and a resident of Buhara sub-county in Kabale District survived with serious injuries and currently admitted at St Francis hospital Mutolere.
OC traffic Kisoro, No.31528 SGT. Otole Yofasi and the team visited the scene and revealed that the preliminary cause is that driver lost control and the car overturned several times before hitting a road side rocky cliff.
Maate narrated that the wreckage of the motor vehicle Reg no.UAQ 365D Toyota Premio was towed and parked at Kisoro police station pending i.o.v inspection.
Postmortem examination of the deceased was carried out and body handed over to relatives for burrial arrangements as inquiries into the matter continue.
A single fatal accident has been recorded at Kisoro CPS on file reference number TAR 53/2021.
