KISORO CATHOLIC PRIEST ARRESTED FOR DEFYING DIRECTIVE ON CLOSURE OF WORSHIP PLACES

Security Personnel have today morning arrested Mutolere Dean, Rev. Fr. John Bazimenyera for allegedly holding a mass against President Yoweri Museveni’s directive on closure of worship places to curtail the spread of Corono Virus.
As we write this Rev Fr Bazimenyera is currently being questioned at Kisoro Police Station where he was taken to make a statement.
Preliminary information obtained by this www.mknewslink.com indicate that Fr. Bazimenyera was arrested after being found leading a short Mass at Gisoro Catholic parish in Kisoro District.
according to Fr Bazimenyera, when he arrived at the Church from Voice of Muhabura studios for morning prayers, he met a group of people who requested for prayers.
“I met a group of people who requested for prayers and they were few so I opened one entrance and held prayers for the about 40 people,”Fr. Bazimenyera said.
However, the Security team monitoring the observance of President Museveni directive in Kisoro District led by the 35th battalion Commander Lt Col Nelson Bataringaya arrived midway and stopped the prayers before Holy Communion and took with them the Priest.
The Priest was accused of not following guidelines which could be a disaster for the entire population in Kisoro District.
