In Kisoro–
Kisoro district is likely to operate without district executive committee for the next five years.
This comes after councilors rejected members appointed on the executive by district chairperson Abel Bizimana on grounds that they are incompetent.
The district chairperson Abel Bizimana had proposed Ndayambaje Alex as vice chairman, Mfitumukiza John as secretary for health, Benadini Tumwikirize as secretary community and education and Nyiraguhirwa Pamera as secretary for finance.
The councilors rejected both Mfitumukiza John and Nyiraguhirwa Pamera with claims that they are incompetent to lead in the two positions. The approval of Ndayambaje Alex as district vice chairperson was left pending on allegations that he lacks qualifications.
Councilors referred to the constitution saying that for one to be appointed as vice district chairperson he or she should possess the same academic qualifications with district chairperson.
The council approved only Benadini Tumwikirize councilor representing Nyundo Sub County as secretary community and education.
Bahinyuza Festus councilor representing Nkuringo town council said that they cannot approve Ndayambaje Alex as district vice chairperson because he has been involving himself in conflicts of public lands.
Kazimili Wilson, Council representing Chahi subcounty challenged district chairperson to appoint competent leaders who will be able to work with district technocrats.
However, district chairperson vowed to maintain the rejected members saying he chose them from elected councilors.
He also accused the speaker Amos Hakizimana of promoting hatred among the council.
LCV Councilor representing Kirundo sub county Louise Bishubeho challenged his fellow councilors to desist from conflicts if Kisoro district must develop.
Some councilors who spoke to media promised to exercise cooperation for the betterment of the district.
