KISORO POLICE ARREST 8 OVER UGX16M THEFT

Police in Kisoro district is holding eight people for alleged burglary and theft.
The suspects are Beyata Nyirarukundo ageds 38, Moses Tumushime 17, Robert Mugabe 28, Jackline Mbabazi 19, Elly Ndungutse 23, a boda boda rider at Kibugu stage a resident of Mugwata village, Gisozi parish, Bonivencha Niyomubyeyia aged 26, a mobile money operator in municipality, Bosco Kayumba 34 years, a special hire driver in Kisoro town and Ndatimana aged 20.
The suspects are accused of broking into the shop of clothes that belongs to Charles Nkyikabahizi, a resident of Mugwata village in Gisozi parish, Muramba Sub County Kisoro district and took off with money totaling to sixteen million shillings.
The incident occurred in the night of 10th May 2019 along the main Street in Kisoro municipality.
According to Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate, the suspects were arrested after the night watchman of Nkyikabahizi told police that he saw a vehicle registration number UAR 619X Toyota premio that was used by the suspects.
Maate said that police swung into action and arrested the driver Bosco Kayumba, the owner of the vehicle who told police that the others suspects convinced him and entered in the deal.
He said that police is hunting more suspects into the matter as investigations continue.
