KISORO RESIDENTS SPEND SLEEPLESS NIGHTS AFTER UPDF WITHDRAWS SOLDIERS ON UGANDA- DRC BOARDER

Residents of Nyamikumbu Village in Nteko Ward Nkuringo Town council Kisoro district are living in great fear after Uganda People’s Defence Force withdrew its soldiers along the Uganda -DRC boarder line.
Residents are worried that Rebels from DRC might attack them as they used to raid the village and loot everything and harm residents.
According to Denis Nsemga a resident of Nyamikumbu, rebels used to raid the village and take everything but when government deployed the UPDF people have been living peacefully.
Denis Nsenga says that they do not know why Government withdrew the UPDF units yet Rebels in DRC are still there which puts the lives of people in danger.
Ezekeli Bahinyuza 89 years old told our reporter that they are having sleepless nights due to fear of attacks from Congolese Rebels.
Mayor of Nyamikumbu Town Council Atanas Kajubwami confirmed this and said that people are fearing that rebels from DRC might attack them as they used to attack the village before Government deployed Army.
By press time there was no UPDF in the area where they have been deployed since 2017.
