KITAGWENDA WOMAN ARRESTED OVER CHILD THEFT

Police in Kamwenge district are holding a 26-year old woman accused of stealing a one day baby boy.
Mable Tweheyo the OCCID Kamwenge police station has identified the suspect as Caroline Natukunda, a resident of Kashangura cell Kyikucu ward, Kagongo Division Ibanda Municipality.
The suspect was arrested in Rwesigyire cell Nganiko Parish in Nyabani Sub County at the home of James Wednesday 36 whom she has been lying that she conceived his pregnancy.
In an interview with our reporter, Mable says they used the boda boda cyclist identified as Musinguzi Deus attached to Kabuga road stage who drove the suspect from Kamwenge town to help in tracing her whereabouts in Nganiko-Nyabani Kitagwenda District.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ivan Mujuni the superintendent Rukunyu Hospital says the suspect stole a baby from Musimenta Allen a resident of Kasojo cell in Busiriba Sub County at around 04:00pm yesterday evening. According to Mujuni, the mother had given birth through a caesarean section.
During police interrogation, Wednesday James told police that Natukunda Caroline had taken much of his money claiming to be pregnant. Wednesday however says this happened when he demanded to see his baby.
The OCID now says after investigations are complete, the law will take its course. The baby has been handed over to the mother who is still under further management at Rukunyu Hospital.
