KIU STUDENTS CLEAN KIZINDA TOWN

Kampala International University Western campus students and staff have today cleaned Kizinda town in Bushenyi district as a measure to promote hygiene.
According to Andrew Ainomugisha PhD; the Dean Faculty of Business and Management, the operation was organized by faculty of business management and school of nursing sciences.
Andrew described the operation as a form of corporate social responsibility of giving back to the community by the institution noting that Kizinda was chosen because it accommodates the biggest percentage of the University students.
He further said that the activity is also a form of inspiration to the public on the value of sanitation and hygiene adding that it also portrays what the institution trains the students to be.
Mildred Akandiinda; the head of department of Developmental studies, appealed to the community to always be visible on such sensible programmes, adding that Kizinda was dirty.
Erick Onchari Osoro co-coordinator teaching and learning, nursing and midwifery revealed that the activity was part of learning to the students.
Osoro called upon the residents to always make good use of polythene and plastic paper bags saying that if not, the area is likely to face problems during this rainy season.
Laban Kiplanat; a first year student of Nursing expressed his appreciation to the University management for allowing them to practice what they study.
He also appealed to the community to observe the proper disposal of garbage, adding that it helps them to keep their lives clean.
