KIU TO TREAT KAMPALA RESIDENTS FOR FREE

Kampala International University (KIU) main campus in partnership with Health Advocacy Group (HAG) has organized a three day health camp.
The camp first of its kind to be done with a University targets a population of 3000 people hailing from Kamapal city and around the campus.
It starts on 7th to the 9th of September, 2017 at the campus parking area in Kansanga, Ggaba Road.
Dr. Annette Kasimbazi, deputy Vice chancellor Academic Affairs also today told a press briefing that the camp is as well their corporate social responsibility activity in which participants will be screened in various diseases.
They include; voluntary HIV testing and counseling, cancer screening (breast and cervical), diabetes tests, dental care, eye care, blood donation, hepatitis testing and vaccination, body mass index and family planning.
Others are ; blood pressure, nutrition guidance and depression.
Dr. Janice Busingye, the deputy vice chancellor finance and administration said the camp which will be held annually is aimed at creating sensitization of Ugandans especially youth to carry out regular health checks ups.
“The human body is a like a vehicle, it is vital that one does periodic full body checkups to ensure that it runs normally and remains health”, he stressed.
The camp will attract over 16 professional service providers and will as well have a KIU tent.
HAG official James Odeke said they are happy to partner with KIU and will carry out annual health camps with them to better the health of the youth.
