KYEGEGWA MENTALLY ILL MAN KILLS POLICE OFFICER WITH STONE

A police officer in Kyegegwa district has succumbed to injuries inflicted on him by a mentally ill man on Sunday.

Special Police Constable (SPC) Francis Tindyebwa from Kyegegwa Main Police Station on Sunday, February 20, 2022, passed on after being attacked by a mentally ill man Ronald Kasirye.

According to Fred Enanga the Uganda Police spokesperson, Tindyebwa was hit with a stone that cracked his skull.

Tindyebwa was rushed to the Kyegegwa General Hospital, which referred him to Mulago National Referral Hospital where he breathed his last on Sunday evening.

The Rwenzori Regional Police Spokesperson, Vincent Twesigye said the deceased was guarding the quarter guard when he was attacked.

Following this incident, the suspect was later arrested with the help of the public and is currently admitted at Kyegegwa General Hospital under the watch of two police guards as investigations into the matter proceed.
