LEADERS FROM 5 DISTRICTS OF GREATER BUSHENYI PAY LAST TRIBUTE TO LATE MAKAARU AT NYARUJU
In Bushenyi–
Leaders from the five district councils of Greater Bushenyi have today converged at Bushenyi district Council Hall in a joint session to pay last tribute to the former Bushenyi Greater district chairperson Can. Yowasi Makaaru.
Makaaru who succumbed to heart failure on Monday this week served as Greater Bushenyi district chairperson from 1990s to 2001.
Speaker after speaker described the deceased as a developmental icon and strategic leader throughout his political career.
Bushenyi district Chairperson Jafari Basajjabalaba described the deceased as a man who respected the interests of the nation regardless of his followers subscribing to different political parties.
He added that Makaaru was a good project implementer, citing out how he planned and implemented the construction of the current Bushenyi district headquarters (Nyaruju) which was among the best in the country at the time.
Jemima Buhanda Tumwijukye, the Sheema district chairperson who represented Greater Bushenyi district Chairpersons mourned the deceased as an instrumental of development and a servant not only to greater Bushenyi but Uganda at large.
Buhanda noted that it was his works that pleased the president hence choosing him as a senior presidential advisor.
The former Bushenyi district speaker Justine Burisadi described the late as a loving parent they have been looking up to in their politic journey.
The council has decided to name the road that connects the district headquarters to the Mbarara Bushenyi road after the late Makaaru.
The deceased will be laid to rest on Saturday at his ancestral home in Mikyerere cell Central division in Sheema Municipality.
