LIVESTOCK THEFT WORRIES RUKUNGIRI MAYOR; ASKS FOR POLICE POST

The Mayor Kebesoni town council Charles Kwebagira Byabakama has asked for a police post to beef up security.
Kebisoni town council is among the new town councils that have started in financial year 2018/19. It was curved out of Kebisoni Sub County.
He said that the theft of animals is on the raise in the town council and the only police station that is for the sub county has less manpower to cover the town council
“we are facing a problem of cattle and goat theft in the town council of late we really need more security in the area” Byabakama said.
He was speaking during a quarterly review meeting for Rukungiri district local government at the district headquarters on Monday 8th October 2018.
He expressed worry that some criminals are arrested but later released without being charged especially cattle thieves.
“Am really worried on how cattle thieves that are arrested end up back in court within a short period of time, within two days, this worries me whether we shall manage fight crime in the society”. He said.
The Chief Administrative Officer who chaired the meeting promised to follow with the police commander on the issue`.
